Reflections from the London Textile Fair: A Day of Discovery and Possibilities – 14th January 2025

This week, our Director, Matt had the pleasure of attending the London Textile Fair, an event that truly opened his eyes to the vast world of fabrics and design possibilities.

Here are the reflections of the days event…

Walking into the fair, I was immediately struck by the sheer scale of it all. The number of stands on display was mind-blowing – each offering an endless array of fabrics, cuts, and designs. It was a sensory overload in the best way possible!

One of the key takeaways from the day was just how much the same fabric can vary in feel and quality based on its manufacturing process. It’s incredible how two fabrics made from identical materials can feel so distinct, purely due to the difference in how they’re produced. That level of detail and craftsmanship is something we often take for granted, but after seeing it first-hand, it’s something I will never overlook again.

I arrived at the fair just after lunch, and my first stop was meeting up with our consultant, Jon, for a much-needed coffee. His guidance was invaluable throughout the day. Without Jon’s expertise, I honestly wouldn’t have known where to start – the options were so vast that it could have easily felt overwhelming. Thankfully, he was there to steer me in the right direction, introducing me to the best exhibitors for our needs.

By the end of the day, I was absolutely exhausted, but in the best way possible. The excitement of seeing so many potential options was both exhilarating and overwhelming. It’s always a bit daunting when faced with so many choices, but it’s also an incredible feeling knowing that we’re now able to explore countless possibilities for our upcoming collections.

Now, the next step is the waiting game. We’ve requested samples from several stands, and once they come in, we’ll be able to assess and decide on fabrics for trousers, shirts, jumpers, and much more. It’s an exciting process, but it requires a lot of patience.

Once the prototypes are ready, we’ll be reaching out to people who might be interested in trying them. If you’re interested in being part of this testing phase, feel free to contact us – we’d love to hear from you!

All in all, it was an incredibly productive and insightful day at the London Textile Fair. It’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by so much innovation and creativity in the world of fabrics. Looking forward to what comes next as we continue to develop our next collection!
